Motivation and Sensation in Dog Training
Motivation and sensation play a vital role in a dog's behavior. A dog perceives its environment through its senses. Its eyes cannot choose but see; its ears cannot choose but to hear and its nose cannot choose but to smell. Needs The concept of need refers to an internal imbalance that occurs when a dog is deprived of something. A dog experiences needs at all times and in varying intensities. The need for petting praise is a social need. A dog's needs are most compelling when they are not fulfilled, that is when it's in a state of deprivation. A dog needs food when it has had insufficient nourishment; it needs water when its body fluids are depleted. During a state of deprivation, a dog suffers from an imbalance and this makes it "act" to correct the imbalance. Drives
The concept of drive refers to the attempt of a dog to restore its state of balance by satisfying a certain need. Drives arise from needs. If a dog has a need for food, it is stimulated by a hunger drive to seek food. Reviews & Comments:Write a Review or Comment
